Jon Hawkins is a two-term Utah House Representative from Pleasant Grove, being first elected in 2018 to fill the seat left open by Rep. Brian Greene. He currently serves as the House Judiciary Committee Chairman, and as a member of the House Business and Labor Committee, the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee, the House Ethics Committee, and the Occupational and Professional Licensure Review Committee. Hawkins also serves as a co-chair of the Utah Digital Wellness, Citizenship, and Safe Technology Commission, which is focused on ensuring Utah’s youth and their parents/guardians are using technology safely.

Hawkins was born to Ron and Anne Hawkins of Orem, the fourth of five boys and a girl in the family. He was educated in the Alpine School District system at Orem Elementary, Lakeridge Junior High School and Mountain View High School, where he excelled in academics and participated in several extracurricular activities including athletics, student government and A Cappella choir.

Upon graduation from Mountain View High School, he served an LDS Church mission to Seoul, Korea, attended Brigham Young University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Public Relations.

It was at BYU that Jon met and married his sweetheart, Mary Hinckley. Upon his graduation they moved to Washington, D.C., to pursue his career in public relations and finish her schooling in nursing at Georgetown University. Jon joined the public relations firm of Edelman Worldwide where he was instrumental in several successful national and international public affairs and media campaigns for clients including the 9/11 Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Association of American Railroads, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 2006, the Hawkins moved back to Utah to work at Connect Marketing in Provo. They settled in the Apple Grove community of Pleasant Grove, and have lived in PG for the last 15 years. During that time, Jon pursued a Master of Business Administration degree from the Marriott School of Management at BYU, graduating in 2010 with an emphasis in marketing and organizational strategy.

Jon currently works for Adobe, having been a part of the acquisition of Workfront. He currently works with the partner business to introduce the Workfront product line into the partner ecosystem. During his time at Workfront, Jon has coached some of the most successful organizations in the world on how to streamline their work processes to gain internal efficiencies, including Coca-Cola, Walgreens, Disney, Nike, Fossil and Samsung.

Of his desire to continue to run for office, Jon says, “I love the State of Utah and the people of Pleasant Grove and American Fork. I want to continue to serve them. I believe I still have a great deal to offer: an innovative way of thinking, a passion for the economic development of our communities, an understanding of how organizations grow and thrive, and an ability to work with others toward a common goal to get the job done.”

He and Mary have four children ranging in ages from 17 to nine, who are all growing (in spite of their parents’ advice to stay young), and who are all active in various activities.

Governor Gary Herbert

Jon Hawkins has always been hard working and engaged in the community. Above all he is a man of integrity. Jon understands the correlation of a great education system in order to have a great economy. Jon will be a strong, common sense conservative voice for District 57.

Dan Hemmert, Utah State Senator – District 14

Jon Hawkins is exactly the type of person we want in elected office in the Utah State House of Representatives. He is a good Republican and solid conservative. He has a practical approach to solving problems with real-world experience as a successful business executive. Jon is a Utah County native and he exemplifies the strong family values that we all hold dear. I whole-heartedly endorse Jon Hawkins.

Mayor Brad Frost, American Fork

As mayor of American Fork, I’ve learned how important it is to have people who can creatively look at a problem, understand all sides, and find a solution where everyone wins. This ability is unique, and Jon Hawkins is the only candidate in this race who can deliver on this type of problem solving. That’s why I endorse him for HD 57, and why he will be such a valuable asset for us in the Utah Legislature.

Mayor Guy Fugal, Pleasant Grove

I am supporting Jon Hawkins to represent us at the state legislature because he has the ability to work with a variety of people to get things done. He has the attitude and knowledge to hit the ground running and cause positive change for us. I trust that Jon will represent the values we hold in Pleasant Grove and will provide valuable leadership while serving us on Capitol Hill.

Dianna Andersen, Pleasant Grove City Council

I am voting for Jon because he understands he does not know everything. Instead, he knows how to listen to people, discuss, and implement what he has learned. He is exactly the kind of person we need at the Capitol.

Staci Carroll, American Fork City Council

I am supporting Jon because he is thoughtful and reasonable in his approach. I believe that he will earn the respect of his colleagues which, in turn, will allow him fight for the needs of our community.
